Self Talk for Resilience

I woke up in a grumpy mood with an inner voice voice telling me how tired she is of all this, the restrictions and being careful, and how she misses so many things in the old world. It’s been a long year for all of us – whatever way we are experiencing it. We have had to have faith, and courage, and to keep going when we’ve been confused and not sure what to do.

I see resiliency all around me. I think of my friend who is far from home since this all started caring for her mother who has dementia to make sure she is safe. I think of my friend who is an activist for racial justice. I think of my friends who have homeschooled their children. I think of my friends who are encouraging others. I think of my friends who protect the more vulnerable among us. I think of my friends who have donated money and extended helping hands.

There’s a certain fatigue kicking in now after all these months. Here where I live the days are getting shorter, the darkness lingers longer. We are going into a slower season where even more resiliency is called forth. My acupuncturist is booked two months in advance right now. She says so many people are seeing her for anxiety.

I have a voice inside that is fatigued, but I also have a voice inside who is resilient. This voice knows she can keep going. This voice knows she is strong, powerful and capable. There is also a voice inside who is so grateful to be alive, to have life, and to have love.

Keep going beautiful one. You are more powerful than you know. You are more resilient than you know. You can keep going caring for yourself and your loved ones. You can keep going making this world a more just, caring and compassionate place. Of course, you can do it. And reach out for help if you need it. Resiliency doesn’t mean doing it all alone. It means that you keep going even when it’s hard. And if some moments you can also remember all that you have to be thankful for, it will elevate your heart. Keep going. You are loved.

My self talk:

  • I am resilient and strong.

  • I am powerful beyond belief.

  • Thank you for ....... and ........

  • I am so thankful to be alive.

  • It is possible.
