Self Talk for When I'm Scared

When the road is real bumpy, and it feels chaotic, and out of our control and like we are hanging on by the seat of our pants, and we are scared, it helps to take time and space to calm our overextended nervous systems. Soothing ourselves and resting are imperative when times are tough or uncertain.

When I take time to calm myself down, I meet the real me again, the one hidden behind the nervous energy. She is my real self. When I relax, I am reunited with her. Hello, my dear real self! Welcome back. I've missed you.

This may not make my challenges go away immediately (though sometimes it does!). It's easier to find solutions when I'm relaxed. It helps me make skilful choices. It helps me feel lighter and maybe even laugh along the way.

I remember also how capable I am and how resilient. I remind myself of the other difficult times I have lived through and how I prevailed.

My self talk:

  • When I am scared, I take time to relax.

  • My calm self is always present like the sun behind the clouds.

  • I feel much safer when I feel calm.

  • I trust myself and life.

  • I am invincible.

Thanks for reading.
With love,
